Current Condition of Original Village Urban Spaces in Louny Region
Abstract: The current state of the original urban spaces in villages of Louny region has been very inferior due to the lack of public interest and long ongoing degradation. The paper examines the main reasons of this process in sixteen villages in a homogenous region – spatial changes in all villages, current functional use of the original urban spaces or their remnants, spatial arrangement and lucidity, the aesthetical values of surrounding buildings. The overall evaluation of all analyses leads to a conclusion that the exact state of researched urban spaces is very different in every example and that there are several causes of degradation and underuse. Two of the analyzed village spaces with the best overall results in all researched categories are described in details to name their similarities and both positive and negative features. The elaborate method is proposed to find all positive layouts and arrangements which could be implemented into other spaces to achieve sustainable and local tested solutions leading to regeneration of these currently degraded urban spaces.
