Architectural Design As a Tool of Social Integration
Abstract: The subject of the article is an initial research on the design of the halfway houses. This institution has an indispensable role in the current system of caring for endangered children in the Czech Republic. Nevertheless, there is no satisfactory legislation and no guidelines on how to design those halfway houses. The introduction of the survey focuses on the state of homelessness in the Czech Republic, it brings numbers and statistics. Further, the research briefly examines institutional care in the Czech Republic that directly precedes the halfway houses. The halfway houses are presented consequently, in the context of social prevention services. In conclusion, the research explores other possible ways of solution, identifies sources in literature, inspiration from abroad, and draws partial conclusions for further research.
