Man, Building and Urban Planning in the Work of Emanuel Hruška
Abstract: Professor Dr. Ing. arch. akad. arch. Emanuel Hruska, DrSc., has belonged among the most important personalities in the field of urban design and urban planning in the European scale. Jiri Hruza included him in his important publication "Builders of cities" (2011) by which Emanuel Hruska was highlighted among the most significant personalities of urban design scene. On the occasion of the 110th anniversary of his birth (31/01/1906 Prague), it is necessary to recall his work in context with current topical issues of urban design and spatial planning, including some new knowledge from his scientific research and teaching activities as well as urban and architectural design. According to conference title “Man, Building and Urban Planning” it is a challenge to characterize the personality of E. Hruska from these positions - as a person and personality, such as an architect and as an urban planner and landscape designer. Personality and work of Emanuel Hruska has not been yet a subject of scientific examination. E. Hruska´s work has not been subjected yet to scientific analysis and the evaluation of his vision with today´s reality. The aim of this study is to outline the ideas for the scientific evaluation of the work of Emanuel Hruska.
