Shared Zone - a Transport Concept Contributing to the Improvement of Public Spaces

Abstract: The shared zone represents a return to the natural functioning of the street or square as a multifunctional public space where social, economic, residential and transport functions are balanced with each other. It creates conditions for interaction between all users of the space based on the principle of natural human behaviour and mutual consideration, where no mode of transport is superior. Important places in the urban structure can be shaped to reinforce both residential and commercial functions while offering a high quality of space for users.
