Results of the Questionnaire Survey on Flood Protection in Spatial Planning
Abstract: The paper deals with the results of a questionnaire survey focused on flood protection and water management in the field of spatial planning. The survey was carried out in the second half of 2018 and its objective was to obtain information on the actual state and progress of the acquisition of spatial planning tools in practice. The survey itself was preceded by an analysis of the means available in the current legislation of the Czech Republic in this area and it was found that the current state of its application was unsatisfactory. In the course of the analysis the most effective tools for work with flood issues and water management proved to be spatial plans and comprehensive concepts (studies). They were precisely them and their acquisition process that were focused on the subsequently formulated series of eight questions of the questionnaire survey. The survey was carried out in the form of an internet application and representatives of the spatial planning department of all municipalities with extended competence in the Czech Republic were invited to fill in the survey. Of the 205 respondents, 76 participated (41.3%). The article deals with the results of the survey and summarizes the findings that will be used for the purposes of further research in the framework of the dissertation thesis focused on this issue.
