Identification of individual and specific features of the cultural landscapes
Abstract: The character of the landscape is determined by natural conditions and by cultural and historical conditions (e.g. historical development, cultivation, exploitation of countries). These conditions are manifested by visual perception, some of which can be determine as sings of individual feature in a territory. Qualitative and specific identification and classification of such features enables them to provide sufficient protection for these values in urban planning. The Czech Republic is committed to adopting the European Landscape Convention to include landscape protection and its individuality in its policies, strategic documents and urban planning tools. There have already been many studies and other expert materials dealing with the characteristic (distinctive) features of the cultural landscape. It is still looking for a way to protect the individual features of the cultural landscape to preservation of landscape values for future generations and to enable the necessary development of the territory. The article deals with the analysis of existing expert materials dealing with the problems of searching for the individual and specific features of the landscape and the protective conditions of the cultural landscape. It deals with the structure of natural, cultural and aesthetic features of the landscape, some of which can be distinguishing features of identity of the landscape.
