Modern Trends in Public Transport Services on the Example of the Land of Steiermark and the City of Graz
Abstract: Modern public transport systems are not only designed to transport passengers but significantly affect the territory in which they are located. Their accompanying phenomenon is intense urban development, especially around stations and stops. This is related to the economic growth and the development of the urban structure of towns and municipalities. These phenomena are evident in a number of cities where the renewal and construction of new, especially rail-based mass transport systems have taken place. Today, public transport is becoming an active tool for spatial planning, and it also helps revitalize economically unstable areas, e.g. brownfields.
